A Basic Introduction to the Trading Mindset

Many people talk about the wonders of trading and how it can best be addressed, but understanding how to determine and identify your entry signals can go a long way in setting the correct path to trading. Therefore, a basic introduction to trading must be in order.

The first goal in trading is for profit, since the penultimate goal for it is to sell for a profit. But take notice that trading is like gambling, where one cannot ascertain or know what exact market forces are at play and what it can ultimately do to spell your trading choices.

Self assurance is another key to your trading success. No one will show you what to do next, you have to plan for yourself, particularly since there are no hard and fast guidelines for this career.

Other people may tell you what to do, and they could be correct for a little while, but please try to remember that the market goes up and down, and trading is about watching the market, analyzing it, and taking action on your own.

Understand and regulate your opportunities and risks.

Many people grabbing opportunities mean that the really great ones disappear.

The random opportunity that will eventually pop up in a trader's career is a crisis in supply. Something has broken off the normal process of supply and demand, dramatically raising the price...and this is a fleeting chance.

Many people will also be chasing these opportunities the same as you do. These may be the regular suppliers, those with surplus stock, or another trader with a source elsewhere.

Wisely judge the risk and do your thing.

Scamming is a job for some, so always be wary of people offering unprincipled deals or tempting offers. Thoroughly read the conditions of a contract, count zeros, and just be cognizant of every possible fine print on documents before signing.

Gambling to win means not letting the house make the rules. The difference between dumb luck and achievement lies in the amount of risk managed. Sometimes you could get a lucky break and at other times not, so risk analysis and management lie at the center of any method that can be considered reliable.

Setbacks happen, and this is a risk in trading, where there are damages and losses. Play at the stakes and risk levels you can afford, don't lay down all your cards and have nothing left to pick up on. Make every effort to understand the market. This will help a lot in figuring out how you could establish the ups and downs of the market you are in.

Each person needs to identify his piece of the pie and the item markets he is interested in.

Trading is a world of compound interest, trials and opportunities. You can invest in buying and selling more items in a single item market, you can pick up when you felt there is a downturn on one item, or you can diversify into other types of items.

The essence of the market is purposeful chaos. This is because the market is the aggregate actions of thousands of people, therefore it cannot be trusted. It will shift on you at the flick of a finger, cancel plans, wipe out profits, render prior knowledge obsolete or even render you flat broke if you don't play your cards right. Patterns change, so don't just rely on it totally. As what the previous point says, one day it could be favorable for you, but that can change the next day, even the next heartbeat. So this is a basic introduction to a trading mindset and this can help you on your way to more profitable gains and planned risks.

Treating Stomach Cancer

A person asked in the forum about his friend who has stomach cancer. He was interested to know how to treat the disease.

Well, you see, to treat this disease you need to know the stage, the spreading, presence of metastases, type of cancer. Otherwise there are many types of treatments.

Some types of treatment considered standard. Others are more experimental and still undergoing research. There are clinical trials tot test new types of the treatment. Information about the trials can be found form National Cancer Institute. Look at NCI [http://www.nci.gov] http://www.rdoctor.com Mayo [http://www.mayoclinic.com/health] NIH MedicineNet http://www.symptomat.com [http://www.meb.uni-bonn.de/cancer.gov/CDR0000271446.htm] http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/ency/stomach_cancer http://www.cancergroup.com http://www.cancerlinksusa.com

Surgery applies to any stage of the stomach cancer.

When surgeon removes a part of the stomach, some lymph nodes, it is named subtotal gastrectomy (gaster=stomach, ectomy=resection or removal). Surgeon may also remove spleen as an organ that also has some immunological function as the lymph nodes. Spleen as well as lymph nodes may contain metastases. Connection of the rest of the digestive tract may be done by Billroth I, Billroth II, Roux -en- Y and some other surgical methods. When disease spreads wider, by removing the stomach as a whole, surgeon performs total gastrectomy. Lymph nodes, lower esophagus, part of small intestine (usually duodenum) and spleen may also go.

If the tumor can not be removed entirely, but the patient still needs to get some food, some palliative procedures are used. Palliative means that they relieve the patient's condition, but do not cure the cancer itself. The procedures include sent placement and electrocautery. Stent usually looks like metal mesh tube that keeps the gut open. It prevents compression form the tumor and allows the food to go below the obstruction. Electrocautery is the procedure with heated instrument. It allows cutting the tumor or stopping bleeding. Laser can also be used for the same purpose. Radiation therapy uses gamma-rays or x-rays to kill cancer cells or sensitize them to other type of treatments. External radiation requires a machine to target the radiation toward the tumor. Internal radiation means the use of radioactive substance that is placed directly into the tumor or nearby. The doctor, who performs this type of procedures, is named radiation oncologist.

Chemotherapy drugs kill the cancer cells or prevent dividing. Doctors perform chemotherapy by mouth by intravenous infusion, or by direct introduction into the spine, organs, abdominal cavity, etc. The procedures are usually done by oncologist.

Chemoradiation combines chemotherapy and radiation. It is also named adjuvant therapy when is done together with surgery.

Immunological therapy uses antibodies or immune cells instructed to kill the tumor.

Treatment of stage 0 gastric cancer is usually surgical Treatment of stage I, II and III of gastric cancer is surgery, chemotherapy and radiation Stage IV Gastric Cancer is surgery, chemotherapy and radiation or palliative therapy and palliative surgery, depending on several factors, that are evaluated by doctors.

Brain Injuries Involving Military Personnel

It is suspected that as many as 320,000, possibly more, military personnel have come home with brain injuries that have affected their lives. Brain injuries affect personalities, emotions and often their mobility. Some will have an inability to understand speech but will still possibly be able to read, some will no longer be able to laugh, they may suffer post-traumatic stress disorder and other psychological problems such as denial of any problems. Some may not be able to recognize faces, may be flat and robotic in his speech, be unable to retain information, unable to feed themselves or be unable to form complete sentences. Depression and aggression can also be the results of brain injury. The ability to maintain social relationships quite often is another consequence of a TBI. And one soldier who, although he could see, was only able to see to the left. These are only some of the consequences of their injuries.

Many services will be required for these fighters of their country. They will require speech therapists, life skills coaches, some will need to learn to walk again, and to talk again. Some will suffer the consequences of having problems with drug and alcohol, they will display reckless behavior without considering the consequences, will make poor choices, will behave in unacceptably appropriate ways socially, or will behave impulsively. It is estimated that approximately twenty per cent of all service men who have suffered a traumatic brain injury will drive dangerously, partly as a consequence of the brain injury and partly because of the necessary training they have had while fighting.

Many of the causes of concussion and brain injury is blast-induced neurotrauma caused by a sudden increase in air pressure or when their body has been propelled through the air and the sudden impact as they land. And fragment penetration is another large reason. Approximately 1,400 troops sustained concussions or mild traumatic brain injuries because of blasts during a ten month period in Afghanistan and Iraq. They suffered such symptoms as loss of motor control, dizziness, headaches and difficulty processing their thoughts. Many of these troops are now taking time out when involved in or have been near a blast situation until their symptoms dissipate. Those within one hundred and sixty-five feet of a blast are examined for signs of concussion or brain injury.

Blast-related injuries are the signature wound of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars with many of the troops having been exposed to multiple explosions. Military personnel often don't get the necessary treatment in a timely fashion which can possibly worsen their condition.

Work is now being done on advanced MRI-based methods in order to be able to make more accurate diagnoses so that treatment inventions can begin earlier for those with brain injury. It is also being evaluated whether, or when, those who have suffered from multiple exposures to blasts should return to active duty. These types of follow-up will help to determine the future health of returning military personnel.

Brain and Memory Enhancement

Struggling with your memory? Do you keep forgetting something? It could be that your memory is just not strong enough. Aging, head injury, illness or adverse reactions to certain drugs can reduce brain function and increase memory loss. But if you consistently train your brain, you will be able to improve your memory, restore your brain health and minimize the risk of developing dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

Your brain is the most complex part of our body. It consists of 100 billion neurons that are linked to one another in a very complex pattern. Keeping your brain active, keeps your neurons communicating with one another consistently, thus, giving you a powerful memory.

There are 2 kinds of memory, short-term and long-term.

Short-term memory is also termed as the primary or active memory. It is the information that you are aware of now or thinking about currently. It is also the temporary storage of information in memory. For example, if you are looking for the phone number of a friend. Once you were given the number, you memorized it and wrote it on a piece of paper. When asked what the number was after a few minutes, you probably won't remember because the information was stored in short-term memory. Long-term memory is the information that has already been retained in your memory and it acts like a permanent storage. Your ability to learn because of the experiences you had is because of your long-term memory.

The best way to have a retentive memory is to increase your ability to move your experiences from your short-term into your long-term memory. Here are some techniques.

ASSOCIATION - It is easier to recall or remember experiences or events that are associated with other similar events than events that are not associated with anything. For example, you could remember the PIN or personal identification number of your ATM because it is the same as your birth year.

IMAGES - Most of us learn to recall things much easier when we think of pictures and images. This helps improve brain function and memory.

REPETITION - The more you repeat or experience any information, the more quickly it is then stored in our long-term memory for recalling. That is why it is better if you keep on repeating information you want to remember.

Another way to improve your memory is by keeping your brain healthy. Eat nutritious foods. Exercise regularly. Get enough sleep so you will be focused all the time. Be a social butterfly and have fun with your friends. Conversation with other people stimulates your brain and makes your neurons communicate, giving you an improved memory.

A powerful memory can always be achieved. So start training your brain now.

Playing this kind of game is a fun and effective way for children and adults to improve memory.

TRIVIA GAMES

Trivia games are some of the most enjoyable memory games you can play. This kind of game stimulates your memory by forcing to access information to all parts of your brain. Defining The Four Brain Waves

The brain is an organ that works on an electromechanical basis. It is made up of billions of cells that is called neurons. These neurons communicate with each other by means of electricity. Every time that a neuron fires it creates a chain reaction among the other neurons. This electric activity is called brain waves. The patterns of the brain waves differ, depending on what you are doing at the moment.

The brainwaves are measured in cycle per second or Herz (Hz).

Brain waves can be divided into four categories, ranging from the most activity to the least activity:

1. The Beta Waves [operates at 12 to 40 cycles per second]... associated with your conscious mind and waking activities. This is your mind's awake, attentive and alert state. This is the place where you make decisions and analyse situations. You speak and are actively involved.

2. The Alpha Waves [operates at 8 to 12 cycles per second]... this is your chill mode. You daydream and meditate while in a physical and mental state of relaxation. You're in this state in the morning when you wake up and when you go to sleep at night. This absorbing and receptive mental state gives you the opportunity to do self-hypnosis and give your brain suggestions that will stick. You are relaxed, alert and imaginative in this state.

3. The Theta Waves [4 to 7 cycles per second]... associated with the early or light stages of sleep while in a state of deep dreaming. It can also be called your 'twilight zone' because these waves processes and files the day's experiences. Also, the Theta Waves are associated with creativity, dreams and extra-sensory perception.

4. The Delta Waves [only a half to 3.5 cycles per second]... You can read these waves only when you are in a deep, dreamless sleep.

In the Beta State you concentrate to confront immediate problems at hand, or just get through the activities of the day. You have difficulty, however, to enter the subconscious to reach your intuition from here.

The Alpha State is the critter that lets you into the subconscious and it was concluded that you can store information effectively in your longterm memory when you're in this relaxed yet alert state.

We all experiences the Theta State for a split of a second every night before the minds descends from the Beta State of Awareness to the oblivion of the Delta State of Deep Sleep, where not even dreams occur.

The Delta State is the level where the mysterious universal mind resides, which means that it's a place in our minds that cannot be reached literally. It's our Collective Unconscious.

Post Script. They are not really separate brain waves. The categories are just for convenience. One brain wave state you predominate depending on the activity of the individual, while the remaining three brainwaves are still present in the mix of brainwaves always.

Brain Cancer Symptoms

Brain Cancer is a malignancy that can be detected and treated only with a detailed medical examination. It is not a routine ailment since in most cases it is fatal. It normally strikes when one type of the brain cell transforms and loses its normal characteristics and starts multiplying to form an abnormal mass of cells called a tumor. However, not all brain tumors are malignant. Benign brain tumors pose no threat and can be successfully removed.

The malignant brain tumors grow very aggressively and they destroy the healthy brain cells. Continuous growth of abnormal cells also increases the intracranial pressure resulting in malfunctioning of other brain organs and tissues.

There are two types of Brain Cancer. The Primary Brain Cancer originates in the brain itself and generally confines itself to the brain only. The second type is the Secondary Brain Cancer which is an extension of a cancer in some other part of the body gradually spreading to the brain.

The symptoms of brain tumor depend on the part of the brain affected i.e. the location of the tumor. There are numerous symptoms which if not cured by basic medication need to be examined in detail for indications of brain tumor. These are:

* Headaches - most common due to increased intracranial pressure as a result of the growing tumor.
* Nausea, Vomiting & Seizures.
* Difficulty in maintaining body balance.
* Short lapses in memory.
* Swelling in the brain.
* Weakness in the arms or legs or both.
* Poor motor functions.
* Slurring.
* Lowered eye vision.
* Spells of dizziness.
* Lack of coordination in speech and action.
* Numbness of limbs.
* Difficulty in recollecting events.
* Hallucinating.
* Persistent general weakness.
* Falling or stumbling.
* Changes in pupil sizes of both eyes.
* Change in gait.
* Cognitive decline.
* Mood changes.

It is advisable to see a doctor whenever you feel you have a tumor. If you do not share your concerns with your doctor, they may not get addressed timely.

The Power Of Your Brain

Your brain is probably the most powerful organ in your body. It is in charge of processing information, remembering things and is master control for every body function you have.

Even as important as your brain is most people don't realize just like every other part of your body you have to keep it in shape.

Your brain is ever evolving it has the ability to shrink in capacity and gain capacity. What you put into it is what you get out of it. A brain that is active and constantly being used will continue to become better and more effective. Alternatively a brain that is not used often or active will become less effective.

Exercising your brain can be accomplished a myriad of ways. Activities that challenge your brain include using a brain fitness program that offer memory games and other tasks to train your cognitive skills. Physical activities that also require coordination such as dance can help your brain stay sharp.

Keeping your brain sharp only takes a few minutes a day. Unlike physical exercise that may require up to an hour a day giving your brain short spurts of learning activities can go a long way in your overall brain health.

Keeping your brain sharp can have very positive effects on your life. You will find when your brain is sharp it is easier to make decisions, your memory is better and you will find that your brain works quicker and more efficiently.

Another great way to keep your brain sharp is to always be learning. Learning something new is great exercise for your brain. This is part of the reason when we are young and in school our brains are always growing. Once our daily lives are replaced with work and more monotony the brain stops expanding in capacity. So learn something new such as a new hobby, a new language or anything else that interests you.

The most important thing is however you choose to exercise your brain is that you do it. Especially as you start to age keeping your mind sharp can ward off the natural deterioration of the brain that starts later in life. People whose minds are sharp and constantly being exercised will continue to have their faculties in tacked much longer than those who don't.

So next time you go for a run or hit the gym remember that you need to spend a little time each day working out your brain as well.

Chemobrain - Brain Cancer And The Brain

Cancer is a terrible disease. Unfortunately, too many of us have seen families and friends pass away. We shall not discuss here the terrible and usual consequences cancer has on individuals. What I want to discuss here is something less well-known. The effects cancer and chemotherapy have on the brain. We usually see cancer as something that affects our bodies. However, there is more to it. The brain is not only impacted psychologically but also cognitively.

The term chemo brain is commonly associated with cancer survivors to describe thinking and memory problems which can occur as a result of chemo therapy or radiation therapy treatments. Chemo brain has also been referred to a chemo fog, cognitive changes or cognitive deterioration.

Although chemo brain is commonly used term, it is not fully understood nor completely accepted if the chemotherapy is really a cause of concentration and memory problems. It has also been shown that a number of cancer survivors with memory problems can still score well on cognitive tests.

But it is generally accepted that chemotherapy can create memory problems for patients and it can become a very frustrating and debilitating situation. However more study is required to better understand this problem. It is not altogether clear that a direct link is present at all.

But some typical signs and symptoms of the problem can include:

• Becoming highly disorganized

• Overall confusion in many types of situations

• Difficulty concentrating

• Difficulty in learning new tasks and skills

• Difficulty in multitasking

• Fatigue

• A feeling of mental fogginess

• A short attention span

• Short term memory problems

• Taking longer than usual to complete common tasks

• Trouble with verbal memory such as remembering a recent conversation

• Trouble with visual memory such as remembering a list of words or a visual image

The kinds of symptoms experienced can vary from patient to patient. But these symptoms are typically temporary and can subside within two years of completing the cancer treatment in most cases.

But while the chemo brain occur, it is not altogether clear how they do affect different symptoms. In some cases there may be external impacts due to lack of sleep, depression and other medications which may be taken at the same time.

It is very important for the patient and his/her doctor to understand any potential symptoms and try to make changes as necessary to continue with effective treatment while minimizing the impact to mental function.

This is the best way to help to balance the most effective treatment possible with the potential for full mental capacities and functioning.

Many studies and research have yet to be done. I believe that by consistently following an effective brain training program, you might improve some of the cognitive abilities that have been affected by chemotherapy. If this can help, it makes sense to try it.

Nathanael Eisenberg is the CEO of CogniFit, a company that develops software which measure and train cognitive abilities. We help people discover new insights about themselves and decide what to improve in their life.

The rapid growth of scientific knowledge around the brain creates new opportunities to help tackle some of the major challenges of the early part of the 21st century. Nathanael's goal is to participate in the search of some of these additional solutions.

How to Lower Hypertension With Healthy Food Selections

Hypertension is considered such a dangerous disease simply because of its clandestine nature: it sneaks up on the individual who may never be aware that he or she has high blood pressure until they have an annual checkup with the physician. High blood pressure can result in a heart attack, stroke, and in extreme cases can result in death. Hypertension is an issue that can be controlled, however, through positive lifestyle changes and food selections. If you want to lower blood pressure with some all natural remedies, here are some superlative food choices that can help you do just that.

Consume some foods containing Garlic if you are looking to reduce hypertension; research has shown that Garlic, a small onion variant, has been proven to act as a blood thinner much as aspirin behaves. The main ingredient in Garlic that works in alleviating hypertension is adenosine, which aids in the dilation of blood vessels and relaxes one's muscles. It is recommended that individuals with high blood pressure consume three to four Garlic cloves each day: the cloves can be easily swallowed down with a fresh glass of water. For those individuals who cannot stomach the idea of swallowing fresh Garlic cloves, there are Garlic oil capsules available on the market for little expense that will provide the same hypertension reduction benefits. Individuals interested in consuming garlic to battle high blood pressure however, are first advised to speak with a physician before doing so; some studies reveal that Garlic can interact with certain medications like saquinavirs, warfarin, and antiplatelets. Those individuals implementing this remedy also need to be wary of the natural side-effects produced by Garlic consumption which include halitosis.

Looking to lower blood pressure via tasty treats; then it's time to pick up some fresh bananas. Bananas are tremendously high in potassium levels and lowered levels of potassium have been correlated with hypertension. If you aren't fond of bananas, you have some splendid, high potassium containing food choices to select from; you can add watermelon and/or fresh oranges to your diet, or you can throw in a sampling of almonds each day if you so desire. You can also incorporate potassium enriched food choices into your main meal selections and have meals with a side of potatoes or a side of tomatoes and spinach as well.

A tried and true tradition for alleviating high blood pressure issues is to partake of a diet that is as near absent of salt products as possible. Salt is associated with elevated blood pressure levels so, if consumed, it should be eaten in the smallest amounts feasible. Recent studies have also revealed that many individuals that develop issues with high blood pressure mainly have to eliminate salt from their diet in order to return blood pressure to healthy levels: these individuals wind up never having to partake of hypertension medications whatsoever. On the same token, for those seeking hypertension reduction foods and beverages, it's a good idea for one to refrain from beverages and food that contain caffeine too.

High Blood Pressure Dizziness - Don't Fall Victim to the Silent Killer

There are several risk factors that are known to contribute to high blood pressure. More so, millions of Americans fall victim to the disease simply because they aren't aware of these factors and continue to live unhealthy life- styles. High blood pressure is difficult to detect, in most cases, because there are little to no symptoms. Coincidentally, you may experience high blood pressure dizziness as a symptom as well as a hypertension medication side effect.

Symptoms of high blood pressure may include dizziness, headache and/or nosebleeds. These symptoms often occur during the early stages of hypertension. Studies have indicated, however, that dizziness is more related to low blood pressure. Namely, dizzy spells occur when there is a change in your blood pressure.

You may feel faint or lightheaded when the blood pressure suddenly drops from high to low. This generally happens when you first get up in the morning. The blood pressure is relatively low while you are sleeping and rises upon wakening. It is also common for someone to experience dizziness when the pressure drops as a result of blood clots, dehydration, postural hypertension or allergic reaction.

Furthermore, older adults that have been diagnosed with hypertension may experience dizziness as a result of an autonomic nervous system disorder of postprandial hypertension. Dizziness and nausea tend to occur in young people as a result of neural medicated hypertension. Simply, there is a miscommunication between the brain and the elevated blood pressure during constant standing.

Certain types of hypertension medications are known to cause a variety of side effects and adverse reactions. Such side effects may include low blood pressure, rapid heart beat, headache and dizziness and even stroke. The medications that are specifically administered to relax constricted blood vessels are prevalent for causing dizziness. It causes the blood pressure to suddenly drop; thereby causing you to feel faint or lightheaded when you stand or get out of bed too quickly.

Of course, if you consistently experience dizziness, seek medical attention immediately. Consult your physician if you have not been diagnosed with this or any condition. If you have been diagnosed, inform him/her of the annoying adverse reactions or side effects that you are experiencing.

It is important that you do not attempt to alter or stop taking medications to fix the problem. It is also important that you obtain the knowledge that you need regarding hypertension and its extending list of risk factors that contribute to this condition. Make a special effort to modify unhealthy daily life-style habits that will have a positive impact on any medical condition that you might have.

Here Is A Quick Way To Reduce Hypertension or High Blood Pressure Naturally

Hypertension or as it is more commonly known as, high blood pressure, is the cause of millions of deaths every year. Billions upon billions of dollars will be spent on it. It was been called the 'silent killer'. Most people have no idea what blood pressure really is. Its symptoms can lead to heart attacks, heart disease, strokes and other health problems.

Just a little knowledge is all it takes to be ready to take action to prevent or reduce the damage hypertension it causes. Whenever you visit your doctor, or go to the pharmacy have your pressure checked. It is an important method of protecting your health. It is never too late to take action and do something about it and more importantly, it is never too early to do something about it! Prevention is always better than cure.

There are many factors that can cause high blood pressure. It includes tobacco and cigarette use, alcohol use, stress, a poor diet, lack of physical exercise, lack of sleep. It is also common that some medications can cause hypertension.

Most people ignore their blood pressure. If you suffer from high blood pressure, there is more that you can do than take a couple pills a day and wait for your points to go down. In most cases high blood pressure can be lowered with natural options.

Maintain a healthy diet that is low in cholesterol, saturated fat and salt is a great first step to control your blood pressure. You might be normalizing your blood pressure with simple dieting tips. Try to increase your intake of vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts, seeds and whole grains in your diet. This is a nutritious way to get your body the nutrients it needs and also a good way to lower some high blood pressure points.

Drink some tea! It does seem to reduce blood pressure and improve heart health. Drink at least one cup of tea daily. Cut out soda or cup of coffee a day and drink tea instead. Stick to green tea if possible, as it seems to contain more of the healthful compounds.

Probably the most widely known of the benefits of green tea is it contains high levels of antioxidants. Study has shown that antioxidants show promise in reducing levels of cholesterol and also as a way of helping to control hypertension.

Eliminate alcohol or tobacco use. Or at least dramatically reduce its use. You can naturally cure high blood pressure with watching your diet, vitamin intake and exercise. Lose weight if you are overweight. Garlic is a proven herb that lowers cholesterol which will also lower high blood pressure.
In some cases your blood pressure may be so high that medication will need to be used immediately to get it brought down to a normal level There are many medications that used to treat high blood pressure. Your doctor will take your current health conditions into account in putting you on one of these drugs. It is important to follow your doctor's recommendations carefully.

Lack of sleep is a significant factor in this disease. There is a study of the relationship of sleeping quality, blood pressure and heart rate. If you get a good quality of sleep, the heart rate and blood pressure will decrease. High blood pressure patients that cannot get a good quality of sleep may have more risk factors of heart diseases than the patients who can sleep well. Get enough quantity and quality of sleep usually helps to lower blood pressure.

Hypertension In Teens - 7 Ways To Avoid It

Can teens suffer from high blood pressure? No way! High blood pressure is just for old people!

If this is what you believe, you are not totally different from most of the people in this planet who associate hypertension or high blood pressure with aging. You also probably wouldn't believe that almost 60 million Americans under the age of 6 are suffering from this condition! This may sound odd to you but this is an unfortunate fact.

Although a mere 1% to 3% of children in the United States have high blood pressure, it is best to have your kids' blood pressures checked every once in a while. It will be a very critical step in ensuring the health of your kids.

What is High Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is defined as the pressure or force your blood exerts against your blood vessels as the heart pumps. The pressure typically rises as your heart pumps (systolic pressure) and falls when the heart relaxes (diastolic pressure). A person's blood pressure can be monitored using a medical device called a sphygmomanometer and the readings are expressed in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). The normal blood pressure for a normal adult should be less than 120 over 80 mm Hg. A blood pressure reading of 140 over 90 mm Hg, on the other hand, can already be considered high.

For children and teens, however, a different set of parameters is used to indicate whether a child or a teen is suffering from high blood pressure. For this age group, high blood pressure is defined as a blood pressure greater than the 95th percentile for their age, height and gender. This means that 95% of all the kids belonging to the same age, height and gender will have a lower blood pressure reading as compared to the one in consideration.

Blood pressure can be influenced by a number of factors. Among these are the degree of rest or physical activity, the temperature, a person's diet, emotions, posture and medications being taken.

Keeping a normal blood pressure is very important to you and your kids' overall state of health. To further complicate matters, it was observed that kids with high blood pressure are 3 times more likely to suffer from the condition as adults.

Help your kids lead a more healthy life as adults by helping them reduce their chances of suffering from hypertension during their teens. Here are some ways that may help you achieve this:

1. Strive to maintain your kid's healthy weight to height ratio.

2. Adopt a regular exercise routine. Regular exercise can give you and your kids a lot of benefits. It can help prevent you and your kids from becoming overweight and aid in shedding off those excess pounds. It can also keep the heart and blood vessels in top condition.

3. Load your kids' diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

4. As much as possible, reduce salt intake. Scientific studies prove that when a person suffering from high blood pressure consumes less salt, his or her blood pressure lowers considerably.

5. Avoid smoking. Smoking is never considered a healthy habit. What's worse is that smoking and high blood pressure are a deadly combination. The combination of these two can lead to a heart attack or stroke later on in life.

6. Say no to alcohol. Heavy drinking may lead to the development of the disease.

7. Have your blood pressure checked regularly.

The Signs And Symptoms Of Hypertension

The signs and symptoms of hypertension, or high blood pressure as it is also known as, include blood pressure readings that are consistently more than 140/90. Pre-hypertension is present when your blood pressure readings are consistently between 120-139/80-89. Although this does not mean you have hypertension, it is a good indicator that you will most likely develop high blood pressure in the future.

For either hypertension, or pre-hypertension, your doctor will usually suggest changes in your lifestyle to get it down to a more normal range. You'll be told to adjust your eating habits and begin to eat more healthy foods, as well as get on an exercise program if you're not already doing so.

While this may not sound like something fun or what you really want to hear, it's your life we're talking about. High blood pressure is known as the "silent killer". You don't feel like anything is wrong so you may be inclined to simply ignore the signs and symptoms of hypertension.

This can prove to be a fatal mistake. Left untreated and ignored, hypertension will lead to strokes, heart failure, heart attacks, aneurysms or death. It is a very serious health issue.

Some of the symptoms of hypertension can include: -headaches

-being tired all the time

-blurred vision

-nosebleeds

-ringing in the ears

-chest pain

-irregular heartbeat

-feeling of confusion off and on

-heart failure

If you experience any of these signs and symptoms of hypertension, get to your doctor immediately. Don't wait until it's too late. Your doctor can perform tests and get you on treatment that will reduce the risks of this deadly disease.

Garlic Makes Good Herbal Hypertension Treatment

Oh yes, garlic does help you reduce high blood pressure and completes your list of herbal hypertension treatment. Others may just regard garlic as an ordinary spice but, it is far more than that. According to Dr. Joseph Mercola, garlic has positive and preventive characteristics and fights the killer hypertension. So just about what is present in garlic?

While bad breath may be the ultimate result for resorting to this kind herbal hypertension treatment, laboratory results show significant risk drop of one type of hypertension. The secret ingredient of garlic is allicin. The soothing effect of allicin relaxes the blood vessels when exposed to high pressure. This also prevents further damage of the blood vessel walls.

Garlic, as a herbal hypertension treatment, also has lipid-lessening effect. In a separate test, the garlic's effect on cholesterol has remarkably dropped by 9 to 12 percent.

A European laboratory trial was also done comparing the effects of garlic to a commercial supplement that has lipid-lowering ingredients. The result was astounding, as the test showed that garlic has as much beneficial effect as the commercial drug has on patients.

Another review was also set and evaluated the effects of garlic as a herbal hypertension treatment. This showed significant reduction in platelet aggregation which means it can lower risk of thrombosis. This same test, also implemented on diabetic patients, displayed amazing results as it dropped levels of glucose on patients.

A separate assessment of the use of garlic as a potential herbal hypertension treatment illustrated a dip on systolic pressure by 20 to 30 mmHg and diastolic pressure by 10 to 20 mmHg.

To be able to extract the therapeutic benefits of garlic, one must need two or three cloves of garlic. Many patients, who believed in the power of garlic, prefer to take supplements as an odor-free alternative. A good herbal hypertension treatment, though, must be in its natural form. Doctors suggest the presence of garlic in meals. Others advise eating it raw while some prefer to make juice or broth out of garlic. It has to be noted, however, that chopping garlic will lose its allicinity in seconds that is why most doctors do not suggest intake of supplements.

The use of garlic as a herbal hypertension treatment is yet to be proven. Commercial drug rich in the allicin ingredient are available, though nature has its own way of treating illnesses. If you choose to go raw, find the freshest garlic there is. Just make sure you don't take in excessive amounts of it as you will experience surprising effects on your stomach, not to mention an unpleasant odor it has.

Learning about Hypertension Complications

Hypertension or high blood pressure can lead to several complications, the most common of which is the narrowing and hardening of the arteries, a condition known as Arteriosclerosis. This happens when fatty deposits build up on the inner lining of the arteries, causing it to harden and thicken. When hypertension worsens, the fatty build up may rupture forming blood clots.

High blood pressure also causes aortic aneurysm wherein the aorta or the main artery expands because of the accumulation of fatty deposits. This is dangerous because the aorta may burst. Aneurysms may occur below the kidneys, in the chest or in the abdomen.

One of the most serious cardiovascular complications of hypertension that could result in heart failure is Left Ventricular Hypertrophy, wherein the muscles of the heart's left chamber thicken as the heart works harder to pump blood.

Kidney complications can also occur when the blood vessels in the kidney become weak and narrow. When this happens, the kidney's main function which is waste removal becomes affected. Unfortunately, the early stages of kidney problems caused by hypertension usually do not have noticeable symptoms.

Hypertensive retinopathy and severe hypertensive retinopathy are two complications of hypertension that effect the eye, particularly the retina. High blood pressure may damage the retina's blood vessels and this may lead to headaches, problems with eyesight and even blindness.

Complications may also effect cognitive abilities and memory. Uncontrolled hypertension has been associated with senile dementia. Stroke is another complication of high blood pressure that occurs when the flow of blood to a part of the brain is cut off, causing the cells in that area to die. This may result in the permanent damage of the brain. High blood pressure increases the risk of having a stroke by 6 times.

With so many possible complications of hypertension, it is critical for a person with this disease to take active steps in controlling it. There are many ways to effectively lower blood pressure starting with making changes to one's lifestyle. In particular, daily exercise is one effective way to fight hypertension. So is quitting smoking and drinking.

Dietary changes are also necessary, such as eating more health foods like fruits and vegetables, cutting down on fatty foods and reducing salt intake. You most likely have heard all these suggestions before and that is because they work. In fact, they are not only effective in reducing high blood pressure and preventing complications from hypertension but they also contribute to one's over well-being.

Hypertension and High Cholesterol

High cholesterol and hypertension are two different things, but they often come together with disastrous consequences. Stroke, heart attack and an assortment of other coronary heart and artery diseases can be caused by high blood pressure resulting from high cholesterol levels. Unfortunately, the most common diet and exercise life style maintained by people in the western world can easily lead straight from high cholesterol levels to high blood pressure, hypertension and on to the more serious life threatening heart diseases.

Hypertension is when your heart has to continuously work too hard to push blood through your body. Unlike healthy exercise, which is a temporary increase in your blood pressure, hypertension is continuous and it literally wears your heart out. The most common medical measurement of hypertension is high blood pressure. So for the majority of cases high blood pressure and hypertension are the same things.

The causes of hypertension are often complicated, numerous and far reaching. In some medically straightforward cases the cause of hypertension is some other illness or disease. For example, diabetes, kidney disease and certain cancerous tumors will directly cause hypertension. But in the majority of cases, hypertension is caused by a half dozen or so different factors. Heredity, salt consumption, obesity and how much caffeine and alcohol you consume are very common contributing factors to hypertension. Even stress at work, at home, your age, race, occupation and how much noise you are exposed to contribute to increasing your blood pressure. But perhaps the most pervasive contributing factor to hypertension in our world today is high cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a necessary part of all the cell membranes in your body so you can't simply eliminate it from your diet and body. It is essential for the proper functioning of all your cells. The issue with cholesterol is balancing your consumption. Your liver actually manufactures cholesterol. So if you consume a large amount on top of that, it tends to reach unacceptably high levels. The mechanism is complicated but, to put it simply, you are at risk of heart disease if your LDL cholesterol (low density lipoprotein) is high and your HDL cholesterol (high density lipoprotein) is low. High levels of LDL will cause calcium, fatty acids and cholesterol to build up inside arteries. These deposits are commonly called plaque. As your arteries get smaller, your heart has to work too hard to keep up proper blood supply to the rest of your body. If not corrected your heart wears out in any of several ways; either stroke, heart attack, or something similar.

There are lots of things you can do to maintain a healthy cholesterol level. Almost all of it comes under the heading of keeping to a healthy diet, maintaining a healthy life style and exercising regularly. Fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains should be the corner stone of your diet and not simply items used to supplement a fast food or fatty food diet. Several types of grains, such as oat bran, have been proven to help lower bad cholesterol levels. In general, fast food equals bad food as far as bad cholesterol levels are concerned. You can take medications and drugs that will lower high blood pressure but long term maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle are the keys to controlling hypertension caused by high cholesterol.

Cure For Leukemia From Nature

Many people are now looking for natural cures to things such as leukemia. This is becoming more and more common among those that are suffering from this disease. There are many different reasons that people have for looking for natural cures for their illnesses. Some of them are because the patient may not like the chemical treatment that the doctor is offering. There can be severe and dangerous side effects and the patient may not find it worth the risk. If this is the case then they may turn to natural treatments to help them with their battle. You should certainly have hope because there are options for those seeking a cure for leukemia from nature out there.

Medical Treatment for Leukemia

The main medical treatment for leukemia is chemotherapy. The effects of chemotherapy may be detrimental to the patient in many ways. The patient may get fatigue and feel like they don't want to get out of bed. This can lead to depression and depression is far from good when you are trying to get your body to heal. Chemotherapy can also cause nausea or vomiting this is a side effect that many people simply do not like. It can make you feel very ill and that is not always good for getting your body to want to heal either.

Another common side effect from chemotherapy treatment is that you will often times lose your hair. This is undesirable and may be something that many are not willing to deal with. With chemotherapy you may find that you lose all of you hair and then are in need of a wig just to hide the fact that your hair is missing. You may also lose a good bit of weight as well. This could mainly be the cause of the nausea and vomiting enabling you from being able to eat or even keep down any amount of food.

Natures cure for leukemia

One of the most common known cures for leukemia is vitamin A. It is said that vitamin A has had great cure rates since the studies that have been done on it. In the studies vitamin A was injected directly into the fat of the person with leukemia. This deposit of vitamin A was said to be deposited into a "fat bubble" or into "bubbles of fat" to increase or enhance bio-availability.

There were 34 patients that were in the study and all they received was the vitamin A. Out of these 34 patients that received the vitamin A, 10 of these patients where still cancer free after five years even though none of these patients received the chemotherapy treatments. This was said to be astonishing by those who preformed the study.

These patients received only vitamin A for the natural treatment they did not receive any of the other natural remedies that are proven to help with leukemia as well. There are many other herbs and vitamins that if taken in conjunction with the vitamin A are thought to increase the success rate of the vitamin A treatment.

There are other supplements that you may want to take with this cure for leukemia remedy to improve the chances of being cured even more.

Leukemia and Children

One of the most tragic of all forms of cancer is Leukemia, which each year kills thousands of children all over the planet. Leukemia is a disorder of the blood, the bone marrow, and the lymphatic system. as one would expect with a system of this size, complexity, and importance to the body, there are numerous ways that things can go wrong. Because of this, there are various types of leukemia, all with different areas of activity and effects on the body.

There are a few ways to breakdown which type of leukemia is being dealt with. There are divisions that could be made based on whether or not the patient is a child or adult, for example. But most commonly the division is made based on how the blood cells are effected, and where the abnormality is taking place.

With symptoms that mimic those of many other, milder illnesses, leukemia is a difficult disease to diagnose initially. Some of the symptoms one is likely to experience are pervasive feelings of fatigue, constant chills and night sweats, and susceptibility to infection. As you can see, these are all conditions that could come from something as mundane as being overworked and run down. Many people assume that's exactly what the problem is, and don't seek help until their condition becomes so bad that they are unable to perform normal everyday activities without extreme discomfort.

When a person does report to the doctor, a blood test or bone marrow test may be conducted. These are the only ways to reliably screen for leukemia. Because of the variousness of the symptoms, and the invasiveness of the screening methods, leukemia often goes undiagnosed, by some estimates in as many as 20% of all cases.

The classification of leukemia arises from a four-fold matrix of conditions. The first axis is that of acute vs. chronic. In the case of acute leukemia, large numbers of immature blood cells are rapidly released. Since they are not fully developed, they crowd out the productive cells, resulting in quick deterioration of health. In the chronic case, blood cells are more mature and build up more slowly, resulting in a gradual worsening of health.

The second axis of the matrix is that of lymphocytic vs. myelogenous. Lymphocytic leukemia effects the cells which make up the body's immune system. Myelogenous leukemia effects the myeloid cells, which are responsible for producing the range of blood cells-white, red, platelet-in the body. This matrix yields four distinct forms of the disease, all of which have different degrees of danger and populations within which they occur.

Unlike some other forms of cancer, leukemia is not primarily caused by any lifestyle choices. There is a strong genetic component, which can be exacerbated by exposure to radioactive compounds. If you have a history of leukemia in your family it is important to stay vigilant and aware of your health. There are different treatments available and the earlier you can diagnose the problem (especially with the acute leukemia) the more likely you can survive.

The Lowdown on Leukemia

Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects blood-forming tissues such as those in the lymphatic system and bone marrow. It is characterized by an abnormal number of white blood cells, which function improperly. There are various kinds of leukemia that affect both children and adults. Some of these include acute myelogenous leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Diagnosis of leukemia can often be difficult. Early symptoms appear similar to those of the flu. Symptoms can range from mild to severe depending on the white blood cell count. Signs of leukemia may include swollen lymph nodes, excessive weight loss, frequent infections, persistent fatigue, frequent bleeding or bruising, fever, shortness of breath, bone pain, and excessive sweating.

Individuals who have been treated for another type of cancer are at greater risk of developing leukemia. Radiation and chemical exposure can also increase risk. There is also some link between genetics and leukemia incidence.

Leukemia can be diagnosed with a physical exam, blood test, bone marrow sample, or a combination of these. It is usually treated with chemotherapy or biological therapy. There are also other options available. Some individuals can receive drug therapies or radiation therapies. Others will require a bone marrow transplant or a stem cell transplant.

When facing a diagnosis of leukemia, it is important to seek support. Leukemia patients should have a good understanding of the disease and how to treat it. It is vital to stay active and to maintain a positive attitude in order to beat leukemia and live a healthy life.

Information About Leukemia

Leukemia is actually several different cancerous diseases, all of which involve an increase in the number of white blood cells in the blood or in the bone marrow, in which the normal blood cells are replaced by the immature white blood cells.

One of the signs of leukemia is the tendency towards excessive bruising and bleeding.

People with leukemia often find themselves susceptible to infections more than they have been in the past. This is because the white blood cells which are the blood cells which fight the infections may be suppressed in some way or be unable to function as they normally would. This leaves the victim of leukemia often falling victim to infections such as tonsillitis, sores in their mouths, diarrhea, pneumonia and other infectious diseases which attack their body.

Victims of leukemia often become anemic, suffer from shortness of breath and become unusually pale of color.

Other symptoms of leukemia also include flu like symptoms, headaches, chills, fever and also unexplained weight loss.

Some medical professionals feel that some studies tend to indicate that treatments such as radiation or chemotherapy used to
combat former cancerous conditions tend to contribute to the development of leukemia in some of its victims.

Some medical professionals also feel that the use of tobacco contributes to that form of leukemia known as acute myeloid leukemia which is often contracted by adults.

There seem to be indications also that genetic ties play a part in certain kinds of leukemia. Many people feel that this is a good argument why adoption records should be open, at least as far as medical records are concerned, from the very beginning and that they be completely accessible when the adoptee becomes an adult.

Most forms of leukemia are combated with intense regiments of chemotherapy. Some are also treated with radiation, but chemotherapy seems to be the most effective and is usually the treatment of choice. Sometimes bone marrow transplants are also used and often have proven successful.

Clinical research of leukemia in all of its forms is being done on a large scale. On the average over two hundred thousand people die every year of some form of leukemia. Although the majority of the victims of leukemia are adults, there are forms of leukemia which attack children and young people as well.

If you suspect that you or a loved one may be suffering from leukemia, don't hesitate, don't put it off, get yourself or your loved one to a doctor. Be checked. If it turns out to be something else, something simple, celebrate. If it turns out to be leukemia, celebrate as well. Celebrate that you didn't wait and that you and your doctor are going to work as a team with a goal of healing for you or your loved one.
